The complexities of modern business are such that it is not possible for any man to transact all his business by himself. He cannot personally attend to all matters in which it is necessary for him to be brought into legal relations with other people. Of necessity he has to depend on the services of other persons in order to run his day to day business affairs. Such other persons are called as Agents.

The law relating to agency is contained in Chapter X from Sections 182 to 238 of the Indian Contract act.
